The gift-giving season is here and this forum is ready to help with gift ideas for the readers in your life. Feel free to use this thread to ask for and share suggestions for books and book-related items for your friends and family.
My sister and I used to give each other a personally annotated book for Christmas. It’s such a fun way to connect and learn more about each other. The notes don’t have to be deep; simple underlining or highlighting funny parts can work too.
This idea can also be great for a partner who loves reading. It’s not expensive, but it feels special.
I came across a neat gift idea today. You can print out a beloved passage from a book and frame it for someone. You can make it as fancy or simple as you want. If you don’t have a printer, many public libraries offer printing for free or at a low price. You could get a nice frame if you want, or just find one at a thrift store that you think they would like.
One of the best gifts I’ve received (besides books) is a book repair tape. This clear tape doesn’t get brittle, yellow, or lose its stickiness. I had a lot of fun fixing my old books and now I can read them without worrying about them falling apart.
I gave a fellow reader a personalized library stamp set. I got a custom self-inking stamp saying ‘From the library of FirstName LastName’ and some old library checkout cards with envelopes. It helps her keep track of who borrows her books since she has a huge collection. I added some more goodies to the kit too. She appreciated it and it didn’t cost too much to put together.
