Parent gifts are always the hardest for me. What do you all get your dads???
If your dad is cheap, like mine, buy him what he already likes but niiiice. My dad only buys clothes at costco. I got him Vuori shorts and OnClouds last year. Every time I come over, even unannounced, he’s in Vuori shorts and OnClouds.
@Fitz
This is a good one – I actually do the same for my mom as well. Clothes in the style that they already wear, but nicer, and I never ever tell them how much they actually cost.

I also struggle with this! My dad doesn’t really fall into the categories that Christmas marketing has decided all dads fall into, especially because he’s sober. He enjoys things that are useful, so I try to lean into the utility route most years.
@Raven
This is absolutely Me. My dad isn’t into sports, grilling or any particularly alcoholic beverage, nor has a beard to maintain which seems to be the four categories of gifts for men these days.

Truly!! My dad is the same minus being hugely into sports, but at 67 he has all the sports-related stuff he could want haha

My dad is into experiences lately. Last year the fam pooled together and planned out a family book club for the year which he LOVED! This year, my Mum picked out some local theatre shows and we’ve bought tickets for them to go together.

Whoa, that book club idea is so nice! Do you have a list of the books from the book club?
We did a book every 2 months and had each family member (there are 6 of us) choose a book for each meeting. We all have different favorite genres so the aim was to share our interests with each other.

My dad is a huge hiker. I got him a portable weather meter to take on his hikes because he loves tracking the temperature changes. I also made him a photo book of his childhood photos… my grandpa took pictures of everything and we digitized them. So I spent hours going through 1000s of photos and made a nice book.
Also, I always get my parents each a book every year! Something I read and know they’ll like.
@Cruz
My dad is a hiker too and my brother got him a rechargeable hand warmer a couple of years ago and he loves it! Just an idea if your dad hikes in the colder months

You just saved me with this idea! My dad always has the disposable ones around all winter. TY!

My late father was very frugal, so I always tried to get practical gifts. Some that he seemed to like were rechargeable work lights (from Costco), cozy loungewear (slippers, usually), and outerwear (a lined hooded jacket from Target). Maybe some fancy snacks or coffee.
