I have a £20 budget. My family is doing a gift exchange for a festival, and I need a gift for my cousin’s husband. The only thing I know is that he loves history and books. Since I’m not sure about his exact preferences for genres and historical periods, I thought it would be best to get him a book-themed gift for his new home. Any suggestions? I’ve looked on Etsy but couldn’t find anything useful.
Maybe a set of bookends could work?

I agree. They have some really cool geode ones.

I also thought bookends would be great, but reading in the bathtub is something I love. They sell nice trays that sit on the edge of the tub and hold a book (or tablet) and some even have wine holders. It’d be similar for reading in bed too.
What about a personalized book stamp? You can get one that says ‘from the library of [Name]’ or ‘this book belongs to [Name]’.

This or perhaps some nice bookmarks!

Yes, bookmarks! I recently found some amazing bookmarks made from tarot cards on Etsy. They’re a fantastic gift and not very expensive.

My girlfriend got me an engraved metal bookmark for my birthday, and it’s one of my favorite gifts.

They also make these cute leaf bookmarks.

Definitely! I found a cool set of geode bookends in Sedona for my home library. My wife gifted me a set of hand-carved wooden monkeys giving the finger. The person you’re buying for might like something that matches their taste, and it should be affordable. Before I got married, I thought a well-stacked bookshelf was the peak of interior decorating, and nice bookends add so much to that.

Yes! If the person enjoys unique items, find interesting used ones. A friend gifted me a set of brass seated monks when they moved away, and they’re a great addition to any shelf!

I really love this idea. It would be perfect if you can find something that connects to his love of history.

This was my first thought as well.

Yeah, this was my first idea too!

Came here to say the same thing.

I have one of these, and I think it’s the most thoughtful gift I’ve ever received. I really feel it could become an heirloom.

My dad got me a custom paper punch-stamp. You squeeze a page between two plates, and you get an embossed ‘this book belongs to [Your Name]’. It’s a cool gift, but I feel a bit guilty about marking my books.
@Lesley
I have a few books in my collection that I bought at an antique fair. They have been stamped instead of ink stamped. I love the idea, but I was taught as a kid never to damage a book, so I feel the same way as you.
@Brenner
That’s such a teacher or librarian’s way to spoil a casual hobby. Just leave a mark!

I genuinely love this idea. I would totally use one. I have so many books that I don’t need bookends, as I fill my shelves end to end.
