Share about your person and I'll help with Christmas gift ideas

I have a knack for coming up with gift ideas. Just tell me a bit about their interests and your budget if you have one and I’ll help you find some great gifts for them

If you’re doubtful, here’s a story: A few years ago, my dad often talked about this old Levi denim jacket he had when he was 17 or 18. It had lining but no hood. It was left behind when his family sold the farm and he never got it back. I was low on cash and didn’t think about finding that kind of jacket for him. But last year, I found one on Ebay for a good price and he was amazed to have (a version of) his old jacket back. He loved it!

Thanks for sharing your lovely story :blush:

I really like this idea! I’m looking for a small gift (our family usually keeps it at around £10) for my 20-year-old sister. She enjoys home organizing, having parties with her friends, Taylor Swift, and she lives in a student dorm. In the past, I’ve bought her baking supplies as she enjoys that too. She misses our family pets, so maybe something related could work? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :blush::tada::christmas_tree:

@Rio
There are many cute Etsy shops that offer fan-made merchandise which could be a lot more affordable and cuter than Taylor’s official stuff. Think stickers or little car mirror hangings that she could put up in her dorm room

@Denim
That’s a great idea! Thank you so much!!! :christmas_tree::tada:

@Rio
Oh she sounds like someone I’d get along with! Here are some suggestions:

  • A cute LED sign for her wall - I found a cute pink butterfly one on Amazon that fits your budget! Or maybe a heart-shaped one!
  • Sunglasses - I found some cheap polarized sunglasses on Amazon that are like Ray-Bans. They work well, look cute, and if they break or get lost, I’m not too worried about a $12 pair.
  • A small, adorable plant for her dorm that’s hard to kill, or just a cute plant pot
  • Fun slippers she can wear in her dorm (the fuzzy ones with smiley faces are popular right now)

@Ellington
These are all fantastic ideas, thank you so much! :tada::blush::christmas_tree:

I’m going to give this a try. My mom insists she wants nothing. She enjoys puzzle games, both on paper and on Steam, and we always get her a bunch of puzzle books yearly. She likes singing competition shows like The Voice, hummingbirds, and pigs. Her favorite color is purple. She reads a lot, both on paper and e-reader. She loves blueberries and raspberries with chocolate.

We can’t gift her clothes, bath and body stuff (aside from 2 specific items she gets yearly), kitchen tools, gardening stuff, mugs, or anything related to family photos. She isn’t into decorating, is more of a hermit outside of work, and doesn’t like trying new things. Her husband follows a strict diet, so any food must be single-serving or very healthy. Budget is under $100.

@Aldrin
Not the person who posted this, but does she like actual jigsaw puzzles? One year, my brother gave me a subscription where I got a new puzzle every month, and it was delightful.

She used to do them a lot, but I’m not sure if she still does. A subscription sounds like a great idea; I could try that for her birthday.

That’s so cool! I think she would really enjoy it!

@Aldrin
Your mom seems to appreciate practical gifts! Here are some ideas that might work:

  • A mulberry silk pillowcase (they come in purple and good ones can be found for about $25 on Amazon)
  • A silk sleep mask (they come in purple too!)
  • A lovely set of bookmarks (I saw some beautiful ones made with purple dried flowers in resin on Amazon)
  • Board games! I recommend: Scattergories, Bananagrams, or Paperback. These can be played alone or with others.

EDIT: While browsing other comments, I remembered wooden puzzle boxes. Maybe one shaped like a hummingbird or pig?

@Ellington
I think you’ve got it! We’ve gifted her some of these things before and they were a hit! I might also look into some nice bedding this year! Thank you!

Oh I got a Pendleton wool blanket on sale for my mom before as a cozy extra blanket. It’s also a great travel blanket that’s high quality and lasts long. Plus, they offer custom messages embroidered on the corners too.

@Aldrin
What kinds of books does she like? As a book lover myself, I can suggest a few! Maybe a hummingbird feeder or bird bath? A big cozy purple blanket for the couch would be nice.

My husband is 45, an amazing dad. He loves Star Wars, Pokémon, board games, coffee, bourbon, grilling, and our cats, along with our 6-year-old daughter. He dresses casually and does have a beard but doesn’t care much about self-care products, making beard oil a failed gift. He’s only into Dove products and wears Crocs and New Balance shoes.

I’ve gotten him various coffee mugs, bourbon decanters, and BBQ tools over the years. We own a ton of board games. I’m looking for new ideas!

I’m in!

For my dad: He loves sports, especially WWE and football - he’s a Chicago Bears fan - and he has a WWE podcast with his friend. He also likes things related to space, dragons, Star Wars, the Baby Yoda character, sci-fi or fantasy TV shows, and anything about his dog. When we can, we enjoy going out to the movies, playing pool, or visiting flea markets together.

He loves goofy or quirky gifts. For example, he gifted me a poop emoji pillow once. His goofy gifts are always fun and not mean or prankish, just unusual.

He doesn’t like books, tools, jewelry, or puzzles, and he can’t have sugary or high-carb foods. So far, I’ve got him a Star Wars t-shirt and a dragon Christmas ornament. I’m hoping to keep gifts under $50 each.
