I have a wonderful friend who recently did me a big favor. We’re both fiction fans (we met in our MFA program, and she’s now pursuing her PhD) and I want to get her a fantastic gift for her birthday.
Besides books, notebooks, tote bags, or T-shirts, I can’t seem to think of a great literary-inspired gift for someone who loves reading.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
How about a bookcase or a unique bookmark? You can find all sorts of shapes and sizes, maybe something from one of her favorite books.
If she enjoys a specific drink while reading, like tea, consider giving her a selection of that.
A cozy blanket would be nice so she can snuggle up with it and escape the world.
If she likes jewelry, look for something with a literary theme; there are plenty of options.
You could also find a stylish way for her to store her books, like some cool boxes or a new case if she uses an e-reader like an iPad or Kindle.
That’s about all I can think of.

We should be friends.

Friends it is then.

Tea is good for everything.

Can you pick out my birthday and Christmas gifts this year? Those sound perfect.

Sure, but I need more than just your username on Reddit to help.
I’ve always liked these one-page book posters at Spineless Classics, but I can never justify buying one for myself. It could make a great gift!

If you’re outside Europe, check out our American site which has different sizes and cheaper shipping in the US.
Buzzfeed has some good lists with ideas, here, here, and here.
Some lists have similar items, but they’re mostly different. Hope this helps!
What about a personalized mug? I made one for my fiancé featuring her favorite authors wrapped around it (120 in total). It looks great and she loved it. A mug might be a small gift, but personalizing it can make even a simple gift feel special.
Maybe nice bookends or a cozy blanket for her to use while reading?

These look amazing in person. The shirts are great! For a gift, I recommend a poster if you know which book she’d enjoy, and getting it framed.
@Brynn
Good to know! I hadn’t heard from anyone who’d seen one in real life, so I wasn’t sure about the quality. I’ll have to order a couple for myself!
Maybe a nice set of bookends? I’ve received a few unique ones as gifts, like gargoyles reading books, Dante Alighieri, and Rodin’s The Thinker.
Hollowed-out books are trendy now, as are felt-lined fake books.
Check out a site called Out of Print for literary-themed goods. They sell shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, scarves, socks, coasters, pennants, jewelry, and more.
An unusual, handmade item alongside whatever gifts you choose could also add a nice touch. I once found a unique bookmark in a used book—an origami corner made of translucent paper with a four-leaf clover pressed inside. You could make a personalized bookmark like that here.
I wanted to do something similar for someone who published their first book. My idea was to get their characters illustrated by an artist. You could commission a piece with her and her favorite book character.
Consider creating a reading kit for her. Include a book, a cozy blanket, a mug with tea or coffee, a bookmark, and perhaps a reading light. You could put it all in a nice box that could also serve as book storage.
You could also consider getting her a bookcase.
