Wat are some Xmas gift ideas for people who don’t want more unnecessary stuff?

People have said it, but consumables. The expensive chocolate they wouldn’t buy themselves, the fancy crackers and cheese (if you’re not traveling too far), the deluxe mixed nuts, with more walnuts and Brazil nuts than cashews…
Put it in a pretty gift box they can reuse later, or a pretty snack bowl.
Otherwise, buy a family a goat or a bag of rice or some trees on their behalf?

My dad’s going to hate this asshole goat. Thanks for the tip.

And it’s a gift, so he can’t return it!

There’s a goat in my town that keeps appearing on top of someone’s car. It’s a baby with no fear, so also taunts the local dogs.

@Patton
I suddenly wish I had enough money to purchase a cow symbolically.

I once saw a program in Switzerland about “buying a cow.” In reality, you were buying half of the cheese that particular cow produced in a season while farmers took care of everything else. They even said you were free to visit your cow and meet the farmers.

I so wanna do that

Thank you. I am one step closer to the dream

@Patton
I’ve asked my wife for stuff like this for the last few Christmases. Those containers of snack mix at Costco that are like $12 that I don’t ever buy because they’re $12? I’d like one of those. And a bin of mixed nuts. And maybe some body wash that you think smells good.

@Hadley
One of my requests this year is a box of seasonal chocolates that I can’t justify my own grocery budget on. Ooh, a nice body wash could be good too.

I hope you get at least some of your Christmas asks!

@Patton
I AM getting some. My wife isn’t as sneaky at getting Costco goods into the house and hidden as she thinks she is. HAH

But I’m hoping for more… Gotta keep me fat and happy.

FML. The gamer in me immediately went to:

“Yeah! Potions, weapon enchantments, gems, etc…”

Hey, if it’s something you can buy in-game for someone else, why not!

@Patton
i’ll love to get a goat, but my landlord wont be happy about it

You could just skip the goat and destroy the garden while screaming at the neighbours yourself?

@Patton
Yes get me a nice gift basket or expensive food

Best gift I received as a grown up from a friend was a gas gift card, car wash gift card, and grocery gift card. This allowed me to have money at the end of the month to stash into savings.

This was my reply to everyone this year.

My Grandma, from when she was 85 onwards to 95, couldn’t shop a lot just didn’t have the energy and ordering stuff online or over the phone for something specific would not go well so she just got me every year:

  • $25 gift card to a gas station(Kwik Star or Casey’s)

  • $25 gift Wal-Mart

  • $25 gift card to a Farm & Fleet store(Norby’s)

  • $25 cash

Over the 10 years it added up. I used the card from Norby’s to build up my own tool box with hand tools. The cash I used on board games. The gas station card I used on gas and a snack(gas was $20 a tank back then), and Wal-Mart card covered a month of toiletries or a DVD.
