2024 Gift Ideas for Book Lovers

I found some beautiful poetry compilations at a bookstore recently – themed books like A Poem for Every Day of the Year. They are edited by Allie Esiri from Macmillan and include public domain poems. They could be perfect for someone who would enjoy a themed poetry collection.

Just get them a book! They will love it.

I’m all about my e-Reader.

So, I’d say a gift card to their favorite ebook store, a nice case for their e-Reader, or even an upgraded e-reader if you’re willing to spend a bit.

What about a passport style book where they can stamp their favorite book categories as they read? Like western or an author from another country?

That sounds interesting. But it may depend on the person; some might not enjoy that kind of challenge.

When I know someone’s favorite author or book, I’ve given a signed copy or a special edition. It really depends on the budget and the author’s popularity (like, I gave a signed first edition of Kingsolver’s Animal Dreams, but I doubt that price would be reasonable now).

I personally enjoy my First Lines mug. (Here’s a link if that’s alright).

I enjoy reading at night, but I don’t want to light up the whole room. I’ve found neck lights that look silly but are really effective. They shine light perfectly on the pages. I highly recommend getting one with an amber light for nighttime reading because they usually come with three settings but the amber option is the best.

@Rene
I got one for knitting and it’s fantastic!

Faber & Faber is selling a book filled with the favorite recipes of famous authors.

I could always use another booklight or bookmarks since I lose them all the time. I had a perfect booklight but left it at my last hotel. I bought another of the same model, but now the clip is different. I have no clue where my bookmarks go; they seem to just disappear.

A friend made me a reader’s snack box using a clear tackle box with book-themed stickers, filled with various candies and snacks. I loved it. She knew I was going away for a week to read, and it was perfect to have beside me.

Book sleeves are fantastic, especially for travel! They keep books safe. Personalized bookmarks are also really fun to have.

There’s a bookstore called Page One Books (not Page 1 Books) that offers a subscription where readers can share their preferences, and they send a book each month that fits those tastes. If they send a book you already have, they’ll replace it. I used this service for a few years and thought it was excellent! I also gifted my sister a six-month subscription for the holidays, and she loved it too.

To be clear, they choose a specific book for each subscriber; it’s not just a list sent to everyone, and they’re great at picking titles.

@Firth
I’m going to try this! Thanks for the recommendation.

My top feel-good book recommendation for these dark times:

Upworthy - GOOD PEOPLE: Stories From the Best of Humanity by Gabriel Reilich & Lucia Knell, releasing on 9/3/24.

I didn’t know this was a thing, and now it’s in my cart! Thanks :pray:t2:

Bookmarks or custom-made bookmarks. I’m always asking for more because they’re cute, useful, and don’t take up much space. I’m trying to find a good way to display them when I’m not using them.

These ladies’ bookmarks are pretty cool. Personally, I prefer making my own, but I love the idea of unique bookmarks with small notes or ratings that I can keep in the book forever.

An Audible subscription would be nice.

Libro.fm is a better option, in my opinion. They support an independent bookstore of your choice with every subscription and allow you to keep the audiobook files you download. Plus, they aren’t owned by Amazon.
