Gift Ideas for a Book Lover

My husband got me a shirt that says ‘Fiction because real life is terrible.’ It fits my humor. There are plenty of fun book-themed shirts too.

Reading a book together is such a nice gesture. You could pick a book she loves to read and make it a coffee date to discuss it.

There are special cushions for reading and small lamps to help you read at night.

If you’re thinking about multiple books, wrap them up and make it a fun surprise. She can unwrap a book each week for a month.

Plan a book-themed outing. Go to a nice coffee shop, enjoy some coffee, then visit a few bookstores where she can pick out some books. End the day with a picnic where you both can read.

Magnetic bookmarks!

Finally, something practical!

What about a Book of the Month club membership?

I gave my wife a book stamp while we were dating. There are many great options on Etsy that can be customized.

If you can, take her to Powell’s Books in Portland. It’s an amazing place.

You can never have too many bookshelves :joy:.

Totally agree with this idea.

There’s a special hardcover anniversary edition of Song of Achilles with teal edges. Super lovely gift. Also consider upgrading her reading space with a nice chair or blanket if possible.

I also received a reading challenge and it’s fun to open an envelope for each task completed. It could be rewarding for her.

You might also pick a book that you both can read together. That way, it’s enjoyable for you both and adds to your relationship.

I love that idea! Just make sure it’s a book you both would enjoy.

@Keenan
:joy: Agreed! And I recommend avoiding anything overly explicit unless she’s into that!

Ha! Definitely not!

  • A personalized library stamp with her name
  • A bookmark set, bonus if it has her favorite theme
  • Annotation supplies like post-its and highlighters
  • Candles and book sleeves
  • A clip-on reading light
  • Cute mugs
  • Tote bags, we can never have enough!
  • A trip to a bookstore (bonus if the budget doesn’t exist but expect her to go all out!)

Hope this helps

If you know her favorite books, look for special editions.

Last Christmas, my boyfriend found a signed copy of one of my favorites. It’s now a prized possession.

They have purses made from old books, and a lot of book lovers would enjoy that. Everyone dreams of getting a budget for books. You could also paint an old bookshelf with her favorite colors.

A friend created a hollow book after her cat passed away. She had a generic book made special with calligraphy and it holds his ashes.
